Customized ribbed tubular heating elements

Short Description:

Ribbed tubular heaters are superior to tubular heaters since fins greatly increase surface area, permit faster heat transfer to air and permits putting more power in tighter spaces—like forced air ducts, dryers, ovens and load bank resistors resulting in lower element surface temperature. They are made of up of tubular heating elements and are equipped with electro galvanized steel fins. Mechanically bonded continuous fins assure excellent heat transfer and helps prevent fin vibration at high air velocities. As the surface area is increased and heat transfer is improved due to fins, it results in lower sheath temperature and maximizing of element life.

Feature

Ribbed heaters are constructed using WNH robust tubular element as the basis of construction. Fin material is continuously spiral wound tightly onto the element surface to increase the convective surface area for air and non-corrosive gas heating. Fin spacing and size have been tested and selected to optimize performance. Steel finned units are then furnace brazed, bonding the fins to the sheath to increase conductive efficiency. This allows higher wattage levels to be achieved in the same flow area and produces lower sheath temperatures prolonging heater life. For higher temperature or more corrosive applications, stainless steel fins securely wound on alloy sheath are available. Application conditions such as vibration and toxic/flammable media should be taken into consideration when installing heaters. Protective coatings are available for use on steel finned heaters for mildly corrosive or high humidity applications.

Ribbed tubular elements are safer to operate than open coil heaters as the risk of fire from combustible particles in the flow stream and electrical shock is minimized. Increased service life and less maintenance required due to the rugged finned element construction. Power loading (w/in) of finned tubulars can be matched to any open coil installation.

Application

To heat forced circulation air for heating premises, closed drying circuits in heaters, charge benches, etc.

In general, for any application of forced air heating up to 200C (Maximum temperature with vair = 4m/sec ->200C)

These industrial heating solutions are among the most common heaters and are best suited for a large number of applications such as conduction, convection, and radiation for stoves, industrial ovens, drying cabinets, air conditioners etc. They can be used in virtually every industrial environment up to about 750°C (1382°F) and be molded into many unique and complex shapes. Finned heaters are extremely rugged, have low capital cost and require negligible maintenance.
