An overview of the analysis of the reasons for the leakage of electric heaters

The leakage of the electric heater is mainly reflected in two aspects, one is the leakage of the pipe port, and the other is the leakage of the pipe itself.

1. Electric heating tube port leakage

Reason 1: Excessive thermal stress

During the start and stop of the heater, if the temperature rise rate and temperature drop rate exceed the specified range, the thermal stress of the tube and board will increase, causing damage to the weld or expansion joint, resulting in port leakage.

Reason 2: Tube sheet deformation

If the tube sheet is deformed, leakage will occur when it is connected to the tube, and the insufficient thickness of the tube sheet is one of the reasons for the deformation of the tube sheet.

Reason 3: Improper pipe blocking process

Generally, the conical plug is welded to block the pipe. When driving the conical plug, the force should be moderate. Too much force will deform the pipe hole. During the welding process, improper operation or improper location and size can also damage the connection between the tube and the tube sheet.

2. The electric heating tube itself is leaking

Reason 1: Erosion and erosion

The steam flow velocity is relatively high, and the steam flow contains large-diameter water droplets. At this time, the outer wall of the pipe will be scoured by the two-phase flow of steam and water, so that the pipe wall will become thinner, perforated, or squeezed under the pressure of water.

Due to the unreasonable material and fixing method of the impact board, after being impacted by steam or hydrophobicity, it will break or fall off, thus losing its protective effect. The area of the impact plate is not large enough, and the distance between the shell and the tube bundle is too small.

Reason 2: Electric heating tube vibration

When the tube bundle vibrates, if the vibration frequency or its multiple is the same as the frequency of the exciting force, resonance will be induced, so that the amplitude will increase, and eventually the connection between the tube and the tube sheet will be damaged.

Reason 3: Corrosion

When the heater tube is made of copper, if the pH value is too high, the copper tube will corrode and cause leakage.

Reason 4: Poor material and workmanship

Including the poor material of the pipe, uneven thickness of the pipe wall, defective pipes and over-expansion at the bulge, these are all manifestations of poor material and craftsmanship. Once the heater encounters an abnormal condition, it is easy to damage the tube and cause leakage.
